Beignets

Yesterday Kacie, Christina, Colleen and I dressed up to spend the late morning at Port Orleans French quarter.

The resort is beautiful and from the minute you walk under the wrought iron awning it felt as if we were transported to New Orleans. "It feels like home" said Kacie who grew up there. According to her everything is very realistic, from the lamp posts to the Mardi Gras decorations hanging from the ceiling of the food court.

Why the French Quarter? To eat beingets of course! Beignets are little square donuts topped with a generous amount of powdered sugar. The food court had a small stand making these tasty treats made famous Cafe du Monde.

After breakfast we walked around the Mardi Gras themed pool, making friends with the jester and alligators.

The wrought iron balconies, mansard roofs, and cobblestone pathways add to the New Orleans charm. Well done Disney.

Before leaving we stopped by a gift shop and met some of the friendliest cast members who were joking and laughing with us. On our way out, we met of all people the Mayor of Port Orleans!

He was very personable and rather surprised to see us wearing dresses just to come visit his town. Just keeping it classy. His wife was with him and got such a kick out of her husband taking a photo with four gorgeous women she asked to take one of her own. haha.
